Last month, some initial water tests of the OpenROV 2.2 prototype were conducted in the Stevens Creek Reservoir in Cupertino, CA. These tests were conducted to examine the performance of the new 700Kv brushless motors and ducted props called for in the new design, as well as shake down for any unexpected issues inherent in the design. Happily, the tests went extremely well!
Note: a simple wireless RC controller was used for these tests but electronics that will allow control from a computer and live video from the ROV are under development.
Apologies for the poor video quality- I was trying to hold the camera while also trying to hold the controller and drive the ROV at the same time.
