I have a doubt regarding the Integration of Starfish type Sidescan sonar. Since its output data interface is USB, how can we transmit this data over ROV Tether ?
You would need a computer module on the ROV (like a small raspberry pi running linux) with a USB interface and it’s own UW housing and power. Also software that reads the Starfish output and reformats it to send over wi-fi interface from Trident to the surface. It would be a bit of work (both software and mechanical/electrical) to add an external housing with it’s own power, etc. Also not sure if the Starfish folks document how to interface with their equipment.
