ROV used to clean up Sellafield nuclear site

Hi All,

Last night I saw and interesting documentary on BBC 4 called ‘Britiains Nuclear Secrets’ about Sellafield nuclear facility. On the BBC website this morning I found this article (link below), regarding the use of ROV’s to clean up the nuclear ‘ponds’ used to store leftover waste from the 50’s and 50’s. I don’t know if anyone has seen this yet but I thought I’d share with everyone. Enjoy.

I’ve been hoping to use OpenROVs for stuff like this for a long time. For industrial applications, the cost of an OpenROV makes it essentially disposable, which may be a good thing when parts can become contaminated from radiation.

Thanks for the link!
