This picture from the NEEMO mission is great, and not just because the Aquarius Undersea Lab is in the background. I think this gives a glimpse into what's possible with OpenROV in regards to payloads and modifying it for specific uses.
There is the GoPro with the new dive housing mounted on top for higher quality video of the dive. The yellow device is a Castaway CTD, an instrument that records temperature, salinity and sound speed. One of the scientists on the trip had the instrument and suggested we attach it to the ROV, and it fit snugly.
The instruments and added cameras are a great addition to the tool, but I'm eager to see what kind of low-cost, DIY versions we can create as a community.
Dual manipulators anyone??
